In a shocking turn of events, Senator Ned Nwoko has lost the All Progressives Congress (APC) primary election to former Delta State governor, Ifeanyi Okowa, with Charles Aniagwu, Commissioner for Works, Rural Roads and Public Information, blaming it on Nwoko's unpopularity within the district, as the noise of my generator sputtered to life, I could not help but think of the political chaos unfolding. Total system failure.
Aniagwu's statement comes amidst growing tension within the party, as factions clash over the primary results. Unpopularity sealed his fate.
Nwoko's defeat is a major blow to his political ambitions. The loss raises serious questions about his future in the party. Okowa's victory, however, solidifies his position as a formidable force in Delta State politics.
Electoral malpractice and internal party politics played a major role. Nwoko's unpopularity was a clear problem.
Okowa is back in the game, and Nwoko is out.
